Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace

Street photograph of the reconstructed brownstone birthplace, with number 28, US flag, and National Park Service sign visible.

ABOUT THIS PLACE

The National Park Service’s reconstructed birthplace preserves the setting of Roosevelt’s early life. Its gallery lists the shirt, folded speech, and glasses case associated with the 1912 assassination attempt. This is the New York site linked here for those objects; Sagamore Hill was his later home on Long Island.

The birthplace and Sagamore Hill represent different parts of Roosevelt’s life and should remain distinct in planning a visit.
