PEOPLE WORTH GETTING TO KNOW

Mack Robinson

Matthew “Mack” Robinson

Mack won silver in the 200 meters at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He and his brother Jackie are commemorated together in Pasadena, where the memorial also recognizes their community work and perseverance against racial barriers.

The pairing is an invitation to learn two distinct lives rather than to treat one only as context for the other.

Another Robinson on the podium

Mack Robinson won silver in the 200 meters at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, finishing behind Jesse Owens. His achievement belongs to a sporting life distinct from his younger brother Jackie’s.
